Take 3 - Cupcakes - Third Take

Well here is my third take on using this wonderful and fun paper from Creative Imagination.  Today's card is my favorite!!  It is all frilly and glitzy!!  Again, you can't appreciate the glitter that is on all of those cupcake tops.  It comes already on the paper making these cupcakes very colorful.  They are quite easy to cut out of the paper.  This card showcased all 5 designs of cupcakes on the paper!!  And see that pretty border punch .. it was included in one of my swap packages from Linda - a great Secret Sister!!

I cna't wait to give this card to someone ... maybe I'll send it to my
mom for her birthday which is coming up soon.

Well, that's it for another Take 3 Challenge.  I tell you that doing these challenges is a ton of fun!!  It is neat seeing how different I can make each card even though I am using the same image or product.

Thanks for dropping by.  If you decide to challenge yourself to a Take 3 Challenge,
I'd love to see it so leave a link in your comment!!

Take 3 - Cupcakes - Second Take

Here is my second take using the cupcake pattern paper from Creative Imagination.  Today's take is a much more Clean and Simple card!!  You really can't get more simple than this!

I cut out that one little cupcake from the paper!  Doesn't that pink frosting look yummy!!! Unfortunately you can't see the awesome glitter that is on the frosting.  It comes on the paper so makes using the cupcakes even easier!!

Okay, so one more take to go which I will share with you tomorrow.  And, like usual,
I saved the best for last!!

Take 3 - Cupcakes - First Take

So another Take 3 Challenge for myself.  This time it is not a stamp but to use this awesome cupcake paper from Creative Imaginations.  I found it on sale half price at my LSS.

I must admit, this is my least favorite card made with it.  There are so many possibilities with this type of paper ... as you will see tomorrow and Wednesday for my second and third takes of this paper!!

I used some kraft ticket die cuts that I have left over from Stampin' Up! (you remember those packages of die cut out images that they sold before punches became popular!!  I have a bunch left!).  I sponged on some Close to Cocoa ink and then drew the lines around the ticket.  The sentiment is from Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink) and the stars are from Out on a Limb Additions (also PTI).

So, make sure you come back tomorrow and Wed. for much nicer cards using this paper!  I can't wait to show you :-)

Bonus Fourth Take - Pig

Here is a bonus Fourth Take using this sweet pig image from Studio g.

I have been seeing hexigons cropping up everywhere and decided I wanted to try something with them.  This was all experimenting.  He kinda looks like he is behind chicken wire .. LOL!!  Makes me laugh!  If only I had a chicken image.  The corragated cardboard was a laying around my house and I salvaged it!!  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and actually says "sending you sunshine and laughter" but I just inked up specific parts of it!

I hope you enjoyed this "extra" pig.  Thanks for dropping in for a visit!

Take 3 - Pig - Third Take

So here is my Third Take card using this adorable pig!  I had so much fun making this card.  I realized that this pig would be very easy to cut out so I stamped him 3 times on some really really pink designer paper (BasicGrey).  Then, I stamped polka dots (Papertrey Ink) onto a section of the same designer paper using white chalk ink, and then stamped the pig on top of that.  Cut them all out, added some white paper piecing to the one pig and a sentiment by Hero Arts!  DH and DS thought this one was cute!!

Well, normally that would be it for my Take 3 Challenge.  However, this week, I have a fourth card.  I just couldn't stop stamping with this cute little piggy!!  So, drop back in tomorrow to see a bonus Fourth Take card.

Take 3 - Pig - Second Take

Here is my Second Take using this adorable pig stamp from Studio g.  This time, I decided to make him stand out against a brilliant background.

I used my Copic markers to create that rainbow behind him and then colored him in grey.  I added a small dark grey border around the die.  I also took the same grey as the pig to color a strip of white cardstock and then added the sentiment (from Hero Arts).  A great Clean and Simple (CAS) card that could be used for many occasions.

Just one more take, my Third Take, to showcase tomorrow so make sure you drop back in and check it out!  Just like usual, I've saved my favorite for last!!

Thanks for dropping in, Donelda

Take 3 - Pig - First Take

This week I bring you another Take 3 Challenge.  This time I am using this adorable pig image from Studio g that I picked up at Michaels.  I just couldn't resist him!  He is so cute!!
So, I kept things pretty typical with this take - pink pig and all!!  I added the sentiment which comes from an old SU! set (one of those sets you got for free when you spent so much $$ during a specific month).  The ribbon started out as pink but I added the strips of black.  And there is another one of my home-made Half & Half dies (like the ones from Papertrey Ink but home made!).

You will need to return to see what else I did with this cute little fellow tomorrow for my Second Take card.

Until then,

Masculine Boat Image

Here is a masculine card that is really Clean and Simple!  The image is from my sweet Secret Sister Linda (thank you again Linda!).  Being from the east coast, I love all images nautical!!  The designer papers on this card come from the Kraft package of BasicGrey Basics - loving them so much these days.

See you all tomorrow for a new Take 3 Challenge!

Take 3 Challenge - Strawberries - take 3

Ah, here it is, my 3rd take on using this adorable little strawberry stamp from Vintage Picnic (Papertrey Ink).  I must love this particular layout ... seems like I can't stop using it!! LOL

See the subtle Versamark strips on the red cardstock??   Stripes and strawberries make me happy!!  LOL

Well, that is it for another Take 3 Challenge. I hope you liked!!  Which of the 3 did you like best??
Thanks for dropping in to Wiggy's World.

Take 3 Challenge - Strawberries - take 2

Here is my second take on using the small strawberry image from Vintage Picnic (Papertrey Ink).  In an attempt to do something "different" with the image ... I tried a circle of berries.

I colored the berries with my SU! markers.  I color a dot of Cameo Coral, then color around it with a Ruby Red marker, and finally blended with the Cameo Coral.  Who needs a whole bunch of Copics!! (click photo to see a larger image)

One last card using this image tomorrow -- and it just happens to be my favorite and where this take 3 challenge started!!

See you then,
Donelda

Take 3 Challenge - Strawberries - take 1

Back to another Take 3 Challenge.  This time, I really wanted to use the little strawberry stamp that is included in the Vintage Picnic set from Papertrey Ink.  It is the real reason I bought this set!!  If you drop in here enough you migh know how much I love strawberry stamps.  For example, my favorite House Mouse stamp is Sleeping with Strawberries and I own the Fruitful and Green Thumb sets (both Papertrey Ink) bought primarily for the strawberry images in them LOL!!

See that focal piece.  I am so entralled with the new Papertrey Ink dies called Half and Half (check the very bottom - wow, I am surprised at how many exclusive dies that PTI actaully has after scrolling though this list!)!  Sheesh, what a brilliant idea (and different) for a set of dies.  I will have to buy them some day but in the meantime - I just made my own.  I created my own set of 3 and you will be sure to see them popping up on cards in the coming weeks!!  This card was a fairly Clean and Simple one!

Make sure you drop back in tomorrow to see what I did with that little strawberry stamp - so different!!

Thanks, Donelda

Play Date Cafe 394 challenge - Ahoy Matey

(Note - this is my 2nd post for the day.  I also participated in the Colour Q challenge ... scroll down to see that post as well!)

Another great color combo found here on the Play Date Cafe challenge #94!  I just couldn't resist.

The colors just looked like nautical-like when I had them all laid out on my craft desk.  So I pulled out my Out to Sea stamp set (Papertrey Ink) and got to creating!
I ended up with these little mini cards.  I create them to leave little notes on my co-worker's desks, for birthdays, when they are sick, etc.  I am very low on the masculine variety so these will come in handy!

I hope you like!  Don't those oars look cool with the woodgrain stamped over top.  Buying that Designer Woodgrain background stamp (Hero Arts) was such a good investment!!

Well, thanks for dropping by.  Off to see what others did with these colors ....

Colour Q color challenge #97 - Stripes, Flowers, and Butterflies

I saw the latest Colour Q #97 challenge and was so inspired I just had to play along!  Those stripes called to me.  The colors were good too .. but orange and pink together .. this was really going to be a challenge!!
Here is my card.  I told you those stripes were inspiring.  I just knew I had to do a striped background.  I added the blue to the black and white (a great color combo on their own).  For the pink and orange, I decided to go with some punches.
The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  And see that die ... it might look like one of those new lovely ones from Papertrey Ink called Half and Half but it is not.  You see, I cannot afford them right now so decided to create my own!  I made a template with cardboard and just trace and cut.  A nice alternative .. maybe not as easy but it works for now!!  LOL!!

Thanks for dropping by!

Take 3 - Week of August 8 - take 3

Okay, well today is the last day of this Take 3 challenge with the take 3 card.  And I've got to say, I love the end result of this card!!!

The card started out with sponging on the bright colors.  Then I added the text by inking up the stamp and then randomly taking some of the ink off with a rag and then using uneven pressure when acutally stamping.  I loved how it turned out.  Then, I added some grungy dots using gesso and some bubble wrap.  After the background was finished, I added my Maya Road butterflies and sentiment.  Those black butterflies stand out so much on that bright and colorful background!!

Well, that is it for another Take 3 challenge.  I hope you have enjoyed this week's set of cards.

Take 3 - Week of August 8 - take 2

Welcome back everyone.  I bet you are dying to see what I did with those Maya Road black butterflies for Take 2.  This time I decided to make some use of the smaller sized butterflies in the rub-on package.  With the help of some Bitty Dot paper (Papertrey Ink), a colorful card emerged ...

This card will be perfect to grap and send to a freind!!

Now, I have to say that the 3rd card I made for this Take 3 challenge is my very favorite!!  If you love color that you are going to love the Take 3 card as well.  Make sure you drop back in to see it for yourself!!

Thanks for dropping by .. see you all tomorrow!

Take 3 - Week of August 8 - take 1

This week's Take 3 challenge that I gave myself was to use the Maya Road black rub on Butterflies I have.  They are the nicest rub-ons ... but I've only used a few over the last 2 years and there must be about 50 or more on the sheet.

So here is my first take:

You've seen this color combo just recently from me but I still had more of this wonderful red gingham ribbon that I was dying to use.  This time I rubbed the black Maya Road butterfly onto some red scrap paper and then cut them out.  It made for a great focal point!

Drop back in tomorrow to see what I created for Take 2 using these butterflies.....

Image Swap - Suzanne's Aug. Image - Invitation

This month is our SCS image swap it was Suzanne's turn to share.  And boy did she ever give us a doozie!!  Suzanne sent us image bits and pieces of a scrapbook store front and challenged us to create our own Store.  What a brilliant idea!!  So much fun.  Now, I must confess that I had a bit of a different idea!  I decided to create an INVITATION to come to my house for a  stamping party.  I have been planning to invite a few friends over to make Christmas cards and thoguht this would be the perfect opportunity.

Here are some photos of my end invitation:
The front of my Invite.  The "your invited" sentiment if a Studio g stamp.

A close up to show some of the details.  See the bottle of pink glitter - real glitter on that baby!!  (click pic to get a larger image).

More details - see the wood grain door, the vellum window panes, and the gold door knob.... so  much fun!

And here is a picture to show the details inside my 'house'.  I used one piece as a bench and shelf and added things to it.  I cut off the top few woodmounted stamps and added it to the bottom pile.  I also covered a few of the scrap books and recolored them so that it did look too repetative.  Also, I had to change the 'Paper For Sale' sign (because at my stamping party I would not be selling stuff but would be sharing my stash with my friends) to Help Yourself!  I picked a background that might look like wallpaper, and even added a piece of artwork ....

And here is the back of my Invite ... it has all the details!   A full day of stamping, laughing, and having fun! Wish all my swap friends could come!!!

Well, have a great Sunday.
Next week I have a new Take 3 Challenge so drop back in on Monday!

Recycled Hallmark card piece

If you follow my blog at all, you know that I can't throw anything away!  This especially goes for store bought cards or pieces of them anyway.  You see, I like to recycle as much as possible.

This time, I couldn't throw away that beautiful strip of flowers on the left of this card or the embossed swiss dots on pale green cardstock.  they were part of a card that my mom sent to me and were soooo pretty!   The pieces from the original card were adhered to a kraft card base.  Then I used my Life stamp set (Papertrey Ink) and matching ink colors to some of the flowers in the strip, I created a matching sentiment focal point.  The sentiment comes from Turning a New Leaf (PTI) but is stamped in sections.

The strip of colorful flowers ran horizontally across the original card ... which means I only used a part of it for this card.  You KNOW that I couldn't throw the last bit of it away!  That means you will be seeing it on another card some day in the future!!  LOL!!

Enjoy your day.  Thanks for dropping by!

I am a Featured Blog!

Hey everyone!  I just wanted to drop in and share.  I was a featured blog on the Be @ Home website.  You can go directly to the post HERE

Creating with Scraps - Day 9

Well, I have the last 2 cards I created from the scraps and a few additional tools and products I had gathered together.  I really had a lot of fun creating this way!  I enjoyed the challenge and it always feels good to use up some items that are too good/nice to throw away!

My Take 3 challenges will resume next week so if you are interested you can drop back in.

Here are the last 2 cards:
This was a fun card to create.  It used up so many pieces of scrap.  The background was a piece of cardstock that had the script stamped on it.  I added the brown and orange sponged on with a sponge that I had smartly added to my stash.  See that Labels 1 die cut ... interesting design on it ... have you seen it before??  Yes you probably have.  It is actually the inside of a business envelope.  You know the kind that you get junk mail in.  They were popular here a while ago to use in crafting and I had kept one but never got around to using it.  It made a good backdrop for all of these circles.  The button in the bottom left corner is actually a faux button.  It is a circle of red patterned paper covered with a small epoxy dome, holes made with my Crop-a-dile and tied with some white string.  It has been in my stash for a while and happy to have a home.

And I have to say that this is probably my favorite card.   Everything here was in my scrap stash.  The wood grain piece was there.  It was a piece of cardstock that had a poorly printed woodgrain pattern on it.  Nothing that dragging some ink acros the surface couldn`t cover up.  It ended up looking fantastic!!  And those butterflies had been stamped and colored a while ago ... again, sitting and waiting to be used, they just needed to be cut out.  And even that popsicle stick with the sentiment has been in my bin for a long time!  The colors with all the brown is a great combo!  Loooove it!!

Well, there you go.  Some great cards created using some great scraps.

I might just have to do this again some time.  After I finished the cards, I took a bit of time to clean out my scrap bins, getting rid of anything that I figured I would likely never use on a card.  It felt really good to clear out!  Thanks for sticking with me to get through all of the cards.  Do you have a favorite?  If you do, I`d love to know which one it is.

Remember, I will return to sharing a Take 3 challenge next Mon, Tues., and Wed.   I might have a few extra cards to share between now and then too.

Have a great day,
Donelda

Creating with Scraps - Day 8

Okay, a few more cards today:

Another little card made with a few Labels 1 die cuts that were in my bin.  The focal image started out with that woodgrain heart that I made a bit ago.  It is created with reverse masking - I cut out the heart from a post it note and then stamped the pink woodgrain inside.  then I cut out the heart leaving a bit of white around the edge.  I had seen a stamp from SU! that looked like this, liked it but decided I could create the same look with what I had.  The butterfly was a perfect match as were the pink half pearls.  They are all added to a piece of paper that had been a leftover from another project.  It was sprayed with some black glitter mist, which looks amazing in real life with the pink.

This is an interesting project.  The focal image wasn't even created by me.  My blogging and swaping friend Jessica will recognize it!  It comes from a calendar swap we were part of a number of years ago.  When the calendar was finished, I couldn't bear to part with some of the awesome images that were included, so I pulled them out and added them to my scrap bin.  This was Jessica's page - September.  I added it to this card base which I had created a while ago.  It was an exercise in color blocking and based on a lovely card I had seen on a blog somewhere but then never actually used it!  Really there was no work to this card, just adhered the focal image with dimensional tape.

And a little book mark created from this piece.  Just needed to adhere it to a stiff piece of cardstock that was sitting in my scrap bin, round the corners and create a place for the string.  The hemp was tucked into my stash, however, I did use my Crop-a-dile to make the hole, a tool that I did not originally have in my stash (therefore would qualify as a cheat -- what a big cheater I was afterall!).

One last day tomorrow with a few great cards, including my favorite.

Creating with Scraps - Day 7

Welcome back to another day of Creating with Scraps.  Here we go:

This little birdie has been colored and tucked into my scrap bin back when I was on the smARTworks Design Team.  He comes from that company.  He used to have a big swirly tail but I cut it off for this card because he wouldn't fit.  Those 2 lables that he is standing on actually come from one of my Take 3 challenges, leftovers.

And here are a few more of those leftover labels from a recent Take 3 challenge.  The colors were perfect to go with this little pink flower.  This flower comes from an old Stampin' Up! set.  I forget the name, but it was one of those sets that I "had to have" and have barely used!  That frustrates me so much.  I think I will add it as a set to use for my Take 3 challenges.  In the end, I quite like this CAS card.

I think this was the 2nd card I created with my scrap stash.  I adore this color combination and when I had all the bits and pieces all poured out onto my craft table, these pieces just fell together.  When that happens it makes it easy to pull a card together.  4 more pieces of scrap added to a card!  Yeah!

Another really, really old piece of scrap.  See that background ... it is a napkin that I used ages ago to create a background.  There is some technique that I had used, can't remember exactly what it is right now, but I kept it all this time because I love the colors together.  Didn't take much else to finish off the card, a scrap oval die cut and a hand-cut flower that was created from one of those many circles that accumulate in my scrap bin.

Well, just a few more days of sharing scrap cards left.  If you are still interested, drop back in tomorrow!
