Birds Eye View (Scrapbook)

Hello again!  Today I have a scrapbook page to show you that I love!  I don'tI usually love my pages and typically feel like my layouts look so 'novice' compared to the awesome Garden Girls and other great scrappers.  However, this project was so much fun and I think it turned out awesome in the end.

It was made in response to Wilna Furstenburg' Mood to Scrap challenge to use the impasto paint technique.  This is a technique where you put paint on very thickly like you can see HERE.  I thought it was a real challenge .. which tends to inspire my creativity the most.

I started out by stamping this Stupendous image onto watercolour paper.  Then I layered the paint on - thick!  It was so much fun!  I also did some watercolour painting on the rest of the page.  I also like how that turned out and might need to try that one again.

I used my hobby knife to cut out parts of the painted image to slip my photos and some embellishments behind it.  I totally used the second layout in this Glitter Girl video seen HERE as my layout inspiration.

What fun!  I love when there is a challenge that is really 'out there'!
See you again soon,
Donelda

Thanks for visiting.

Computer Genius (Scrapbook)

Welcome back!  Dropping in to share another layout.  I must say, I am enjoying getting back into scrapbooking SO MUCH!!  I am sleeping better at night too - which is always a bonus.

One of the scrapbookers who is really inspiring me is Shimelle.  This layout was made in response to her challenge - to use fabric on a layout.  See that apple print ... it is fabric!  The colours were perfect for this layout about my son building his own computer!

I used my new Mr. Heuy's blue mist, so popular these days.  However, I've got to say, I am not keen on the all white background.  I tried it here ... and not all that happy with the final results.

Thanks for dropping in.  Hope you get inspired a bit.

Enjoy Life (Scrapbooking)

Hello!  Nice to see you!

Just thought I'd upload thic colourful layout I did of my DS.  Love this guy so much!

I really wanted to do something colourful.  And it was a great way to use up some of the millions of buttons I have lurking around here.

Off to play in my art journal.  Having so much fun.  Maybe some day I'll be brave enough to share share a page here. :-)

Thanks for dropping in.

Life is Better with Friends (Scrapbooking)

Hi everyone.  I've been scrapbooking again.  I can't tell you how happy I am to be back at scrapbooking.  And the creative outlet is so good for me!!

Here is a page I made about my son's 13th birthday party and his friends.  The faces are blurred out as I don't have permission to share their images online.  Respect!

Did lots of distressing on this one. It just was required when using those papers!!

Papers are from the Industrial Park Collection by Scrap Within Reach (excellent boy papers!).

Stamps - finger pointer is from Purple Onion Designs, circles are from Boarders & Corners {Circles} from Papertrey Ink, Chinese Man is a stamp I made myself, small letters are from Simple Alphabet from Papertrey Ink.

Title sticker is from the Note to Self element sticker page by Echo Park and the 'Don't Ever Forget' sticker is from the Alpha Sticker page from the same collection (again, great boy colours in this collection .. if only I had the papers!).  The numbers 1 and 3 are from bon bon coloured teensy type stickers by Doodlebug Design.

Don't you just love my little chinese man??!!  He took a bit to carve but I think he turned out pretty good.  DS was pretty impressed so that means a lot.  It's a funny saying that he and his buddies say these days ... want to scrap it so he can remember it when he is older!

Thanks for dropping by for a visit.  Enjoy your day.

Scrapbook Starting Point with Shimelle - You Can Teach (Scrapbook)

Sorry!  I haven't been a very good blogger these days!  Life continues to be busy.  I continue to do what I can and keep this fun.

Today I have another page that I created using one of Shimelle's starting points as a ... well, starting point.  You can see here blog post HERE.  This is the starting point that she wanted us to use.

I have messed around with it a bit.  I have turned the whole thing 90 degrees and the red square is actually smaller than the vellum piece.

In addition to using Shimelle's starting point, I also borrowed some inspiration from one of her guests - Corrie Jones, who did a great guest spot on Shimelle's blog talking about different ways to use mists.  One of her ideas was to use mists to paint.  I used some electric blue (Tattered Angeles) and Silver (Tattered Angels) to paing large stripes across a piece of white cardstock.

The page is about me taking skiing lessons for the first time.  Yup, being 44 is not going to stop me from doing all kinds of things.  And I learned that you really can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks!!  LOL!!

I am off to link my page up on Shimelle's blog.  You should come and play too!

Thanks for dropping by for a visit!
